About us

Sizakuyenza is registered as a South African Non Profit Organisation (NPO 043672) with the Department of Social Development’s NPO Directorate.

A Board appoints a director to run the organisation on their behalf, including a full time staff compliment of 17. A Project Leadership team of five run a combined team of 12 staff and coordinate the three main projects of the organisation.

Our history

Our reach into the communities we serve is extensive as more than 50 percent of the staff live in Philippi itself. Since its inception, Sizakuyenza has built strong relationships with multiple stakeholders in this community including the South African Police Service, local schools and clinics, nearby community based organisations and NGOs as well as several churches not only in Philippi but also Gugulethu.

We have a good relationship with the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business through the Bertha Centre Solution Space facility in Philippi Village and regularly make use of the Bertha House in Mowbray. Our closest organisational associate is the Community Organisation Resource Centre (CORC), which was Sizakuyenza’s incubator organisation, and we are a member of the Western Cape Women’s Shelter Movement (WCWSM).
